Microsoft for Time Management

A Day in the Life of Fermin Garcia

Life is busy! From work to maintaining a social life, life has its challenges. With the vast amounts of applications out there must be a way to help manage your time. I will reflect on three different applications I used to help capture a day in a life of me.

Microsoft Word
To begin we used Microsoft's word. Word provided the greatest capture of my day. The we started by trying to capture my morning routine and my work routine. Not only can it be viewed as a page in a journal but with color and text alignments. Some draw backs to this are that there is no effective way to capture time usage and time breakdown. Which is why the next tool was utilized to capture my time breakdown.

Microsoft Excel
Microsoft excel is a spreadsheet program that allows users to format, organize and calculate data in a spreadsheet (Gillis, 2021). Which is why we use this application to breakdown our time and visualize our day. Excel shines in enabling users to create a table to be able to document our day. One feature available to users is the graph tool. This allows us to create visual displays of how our day is structures and where most of the time of the day is spent. While Excel, excelled in providing insights into depicting our day visually Excel doesn't contain enough graphs to truly capture my day. This is where the final application really shines.

Microsoft PowerPoint
Microsoft's PowerPoint, sometimes written as PP or PPT is a presentation program that creates slides shows of important information, charts, and images. Mostly used in business and school presentation settings(Hope, 2023). We used PowerPoint to visually depict two crucial aspects of my day. I start the presentation with a title page, then witch to an agenda to let the audience know what to expect in my presentation. We switch to a professional slide which visually represents some of the coding libraries I utilize daily. We then transition to a meet the family page. These are the people in my life who support and love me unconditionally and they are the reason I can be where I am today.

Reflection on all Three
While each application had its fair share of pros and its fair share of cons one take-away is important to note. These applications are excellent at what they do. The challenge may lay in which one is more useful to your intended purpose. Need to track something? Excel is the application for you. Being asked to present something should draw you to PowerPoint. Need to outline your presentation? Word is the best option.

Conclusion

We reflected on the day in the life project. We used three applications to track and represent our day.  Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint. We underline where these application shines and where their intended use stops.
